Ne-Yo

Ne-Yo (born October 18th, 1982) is the stage name for Shaffer Chimere Smith, the multi-talented R&B singer and songwriter.  In 2006, Ne-Yo released his debut album, In My Own Words, and found instant commercial success.  Ne-Yo's single "So Sick" was hugely successful and reached the number one position on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.  Other notable singles on the album include "Stay" featuring Peedi Peedi, "When You're Mad", and "Sexy Love".  Ne-Yo showed his critics that his initial success was no fluke by releasing his 2007 sophmore effort, Because of You, and continued to churn out the hits such as the singles "Because of You", "Do You", "Can We Chill" and "Closer". Ne-Yo has also shared his songwriting skills with other top musical artists.  In 2006, Ne-Yo was credited with writing the Rihanna top ten single "Unfaithful" on her album A Girl Like Me as well as writing Beyonce's number-one hit single "Irreplacable" on her album B-Day.  Ne-Yo has now become an unstoppable force with his 2008 album The Year of the Gentleman which contained hit singles such as "Closer", "Miss Independent" and "Mad".  Ne-Yo has also written songs for Enrique Iglesias, Chris Brown, Whitney Houston, Corbin Bleu, Celine Dion, Britney Spears and Mary J. Blige.   Ne-Yo has also been putting together a movie career with roles in 2006's Save The Last Dance 2, 2007's Stomp The Yard and his upcoming roles in the films Red Tails (2010) and 4Chosen (2011).
