A native of Los Angeles, Katharine McPhee (born March 25th, 1984) grew up in an entertainment family with a mother who is a vocal coach and a father who is a television producer.  She received worldwide fame when she was the runner-up to Taylor Hicks on the fifth season of "American Idol" in 2006.  Shortly after "American Idol" ended, Katharine McPhee signed with Sony BMG's RCA Records and 19 Entertainment and released the single "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", followed by the single "My Destiny".  Both would prove to be big hits on the music charts.  The following year would bring about the release of Katharine McPhee's self-titled debut album and the hit singles "Over It" and "Love Story" as well as being named one of People Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People.  In 2009, Katharine showed up with a new haircut, a new attitude, and her second studio album Unbroken.  Katharine McPhee has also been working on a movie career with roles in the feature films The House Bunny (2008) and You May Not Kiss the Bride (2010).
